6 essentials for your next adventure
Going exploring with the kids this summer is a must, but how do you make sure you’re prepared for every eventuality? Whether you’re hiking in the woods or ziplining on a family activity day, we’ve rounded up the must-have kit to keep everyone happy
Adventuring with the kids is super fun … until they get wet or thirsty! Making sure you’ve got a well-stocked backpack is a surefire way to bypass any complaining in an instant. Here are all the essentials you need for a summer of fun.
And for even more adventure, Aqua Pura has 13 PGL family holidays and 13 PGL family activity days to give away. With a huge range of activities you can all do together, which one will you try first? (Top tip: abseiling is a must!). Spin to Win here or scan the Aqua Pura promotional packaging QR code to enter.
1. Spare clothes
No matter what adventure you go on with your child, there’s one thing for certain: if there’s mud, water or anything else muck-making, they’ll find it!
That’s why a change of clothes is a must for your family adventure. An extra pair of shorts and a t-shirt is enough, ideally made from a quick-drying sports material. And if you’ve got room, pop in a towel too. Sorted.
2. Aqua Pura Natural Mineral Water
Having fun is thirsty work. So be sure to pack bottles of Aqua Pura for the whole family. The Natural Mineral Water from the rolling hills of Cumbria is bottled at source with absolutely nothing artificial added. In fact, Aqua Pura literally means ‘pure water’.
Stocked at Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, you can pick up a multipack to keep at home, ready for each and every adventure.
The 500ml bottles have snap-caps which are easy to open … just drink and go!
3. Good shoes
The right footwear is essential for adventuring. (Flip-flops just aren’t going to cut it if you’re cycling or climbing.) Pop on trainers and if you’re trying out water-based activities – PGL offers everything from canoeing and rafting to giant paddle boarding – pack some water shoes, wellies or old trainers too.
Spin to Win a PGL family holiday or activity day for your chance to try something you’ve never done before.
4. A rubbish bag
There’s nothing better than heading out into the great outdoors, but it’s important to leave it as you found it. Pop a bin bag in your backpack, ready to take home all your rubbish.
Aqua Pura bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic, and are completely recyclable too. The snap-caps stay attached to the bottles so you won’t accidentally drop anything as you explore.
5. Treasure
Planning on adding some extra fun to your family hike by going geocaching? Then don’t leave home without some treasure to leave in the cache.
If you’re new to geocaching, it’s free to do. Just head to the Geocaching websiteto find the cache nearest you. Some of the boxes contain treasure so pack something small that you can add in too. Small toys or keyrings are great items to leave behind – just make sure whatever you choose is waterproof.
6. Your spirit of adventure
From camping in the garden to orienteering, there are so many different ways to have an adventure with the kids this summer.
And even if it’s an activity that’s *slightly* out of your comfort zone – the PGL giant swings or trapeze for example – just go for it. Don’t leave home without your spirit of adventure and we guarantee you’ll have the best summer ever!
